Driven by Health is a peer supported, community-based health education and exercise program at the Philip Heit Center in New Albany. This 8 week program includes individual wellness coaching sessions, a weekly group meeting and twice weekly group-based exercise program. Our goal is to empower you to become the healthiest and strongest version of YOU!
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 11am - 12:30pm for 8 weeks starting June 5, 2018.
Your wellness coaching sessions will:
Help to identify your own personal wellness vision
Create weekly action plans and accept accountability for reaching short and long-term goals
Discover your motivation for long-term results
Recognize and eliminate barriers that sabotage success
In the group meetings you’ll discuss and learn about:
Nutrition – an OSU Registered Dietitian will discuss general nutrition, which foods are best to eat and which ones to avoid in a Q&A format
Healthy cooking – with OSU’s Director of Nutrition Services, Jim Warner
Mindfulness and meditation
Healthy choices when eating out
The exercise portion is set up to introduce you to several modes of exercise, build confidence, strength and endurance. You’ll learn how to gauge how hard you are exercising, appropriate cardiovascular and strength exercises, experience some group exercise classes, and suspension training.
Participants will meet at the Philip Heit Center in New Albany to utilize the demo kitchen and classroom with Healthy New Albany, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Health and Fitness Center.
